For Track & Field, we practice two (2) times per week from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, typically on Monday and Wednesday. Practice days may vary from that schedule based on High School sports teams schedules especially during the months of March and April.
For XC, we practice three (3) times a week from 6:00pm until 7:30pm.
Track practices are at Creekview High School. XC practices take place at Boling Park, Cherokee Veterans Park, and Etowah River Park.
We do not have any requirement for attendance.
You and your athlete will make the decision to register for each meet. If you have registered for a meet and then are not able to attend, you will need to contact the Team Manager, Coach Melissa know as this will impact relay teams and race assignments.
If you need to leave a meet before you have competed in all of the events in which you registered, you DO need to let the Creekview Coach at that particular event know, so that we can notify the officials at that event.
Your athlete does not need to have prior experience. We are a recreational club and have athletes that range from being brand new to the sport to well-seasoned athletes in every age group, some of which who compete on the national level.
Running Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, Hurdles
Running Relay Events: 4x100m, 4x400m
Field Events: Shot Put, Javelin, Long Jump, High Jump
You and your child will select which events they will participate in each meet. We encourage all 1st year athletes to try all of the events.
Race distances for youth XC will vary by USATF age group:
Race Distance for the Creekland Middle School team is normally 2 miles, although on some occasions it may be 3200 meters.
All Coaches and Team VIPs are volunteers. All have to complete an bi-annual USATF Background Check as well as complete annual USATF Safe Sport training that covers critical areas such as bullying, harassment, physical and emotional misconduct. We also have several coaches on staff that are USATF Level 1 or Level 2 certified coaches, Cross Country Specialists, or have completed additional USATF training.
